Samulous has been acknowledged by some of the heaviest hitters in the music & entertainment industry from Jennifer Holliday to his adopted aunt 10 time Grammy award-winning legend "Queen of Funk" Chaka Khan. Legendary Valerie Simpson songwriter, producer and performer of "Ashford & Simpson says "Samulous..is an amazing voice! and I'm talking about real PIPES!!!". Singing since the age of four, "Samulous" is an African/Bahamian International androgynous entertainer, versatile singer & recording artist. During grade school he met 80’s popular singer, Timmy Thomas, who began accompanying and mentoring Samulous with the introduction of jazz and adult contemporary music. As a toddler, Samulous could be found singing songs like Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World” and Barbra Streisand’s “At the Same Time” during most school functions within Miami-Dade County. These local school events and area talent shows afforded him the opportunity to sing live on a WLRN broadcast at the age of only 6 years old. During his middle and high school years he continued to develop his singing abilities by joining the school choir where he soon became known for his multi-range and signature high pitches. While he was in his 10th grade year the Miami education system suffered an economic crisis and cuts were made to the Arts Education portion of the schools’ budget. As a result a benefit concert was created to feature one student from each of the 12 performing arts schools in Miami-Dade County. Samulous was selected to represent his school, Miami Northwestern Senior High, in an “American Idol” like competition called “Best Voice, Your Choice” where he won a recording session at the legendary Hit Factory studios and breakfast with award-winning music producer/composer Rudy Perez along with a $5,000 award for his arts program. Samulous journey to stardom continued when he won the "Outstanding Vocal Soloist Award" from Festival Disney in 2010. In 2011, Samulous entered into a Fame-Wall Tribute sweepstakes for his beloved inspiration, Ms. Chaka Khan. Due to the strong likeness in voice to Chaka, Samulous won the sweepstakes and was offered the opportunity to serenade her during the Fame-Wall Star Studded event hosted by Dale Badway in Hollywood, Cali. Since this event, Chaka adopted him and began mentoring Samulous at the age of 16 and he now refers to her as “Auntie Chaka,” his greatest musical mentor. In 2012 when Samulous was 17, he was selected out of tens of thousands of students around the country to showcase his voice at the world famous Carnegie Hall in NYC for the Netherlands Trust annual benefit concert. After his high school graduation Samulous moved to the big apple where he is taking New York by storm! He recorded a jingle for the Stephen Colbert Late Show. He was a guest performer on Rev. Al Sharpton’s NAN Radio Program and was a finalist in "The Worlds Famous" Apollo Theater’s Top Dog Amateur Night Competition. Samulous has won countless awards and recognitions throughout the years and has been trained by iconic celebrity vocal coach Kenn Hicks. He can be found working in the studio with famed producer, singer and songwriter James “D-Train” Williams at the United Stations working on his first studio album. Samulous was casted in the Tony award winning musical "Fun Home" choir. The original Broadway production was nominated for ten Tony Awards, winning five including Best Musical. Samulous has worked with Tony and Grammy award winning performer "Jennifer Holiday" at the McDonalds Gospel Fest. Currently, he can be found singing along the East Coast with his indie band performing at charitys, weddings, festivals, lounges, nights clubs and private affairs. https://www.facebook.com/officialsammicollie https://www.facebook.com/Samulous https://soundcloud.com/sammicollie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUE6g5xw3wo
